ABOUT SES - COMPANY HISTORY

Seismic Equipment Solutions (SES) is committed to helping the exploration industry, and companies both large and small, with their seismic equipment and support needs. We deliver solutions by continually investing in the technology our customers require and consistently recruiting the most experienced professionals. With headquarters in Houston, Texas, and a global presence in London, Moscow, Jakarta, Calgary and Bogota, we are ready to provide the equipment, support, repair, and services our industry requires.

Below is a brief overview of our company history:

2011

  • In the Spring, SES opens an office and warehouse in Bogota, Colombia.  SES sponsors the IAGC and GSH Golf Tournaments in Houston, Texas.
  • In March, Humberto Ribera joins SES as Vice President, Sales and Marketing - Latin America. SES exhibits at the RMAG Symposium in Denver, Colorado.
  • In April, SES exhibits at the Colombia O&G Show in Cartagena, Colombia and SEAPEX in Singapore.
  • In May, SES exhibits at the EAGE show in Vienna, Austria and the IPA Annual Convention & Exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia.

2010

  • In April, industry veteran Stuart Porteous joins SES as Senior Vice President (SVP) - Sales and Marketing Marine & Transition Zone.
  • In June, SES cut the ribbon on their 24,000 S/F warehouse expansion. 
  • In June, SES exhibits at the EAGE show in Barcelona, Spain.
  • In October, SES exhibits at the SEG convention in Denver, Colorado.

2009

  • SES exhibits at major exploration trade shows, including the EAGE in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and the SEG in Houston, Texas.
  • In January, SES completes a leveraged recapitalization (for further details: Houston Business Journal).
  • In August, SES hires Rick Luke as Chief Financial Officer.
  • In September, SES acquires TransGulf Tech, one of the leading marine seismic air gun and lead-in termination specialists in the industry. In addition, Jose Medina is promoted to Senior Vice President of SES' new Technical Service Department.

2008

  • In September, SES debuts a new booth and introduces new products at the SEG show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

2007

  • In January, SES hires Perry Johannson as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
  • Earlier this year, Input/Output's first prototype FireFly cableless seismic acquisition system was used to conduct two very significant field test projects with Apache Corporation and BP.
  • In June, Seismic Equipment Solutions expands internationally and forms a new Partner Alliance with xPort Group. In addition, Travis Barker joins SES as Vice President of Operations.
  • In October, SES debuts the DataTaxi, a lightweight field deployable data transport device for the collection and transfer of data between I/O RSR field station units and data transcribers.

2006

  • In January, SES adds another 1400 stations of I/O VectorSeis Digital Sensors to its lease pool.
  • In February, SES headquarters moves into its new six acre complex on 10,000 West Airport in Houston, Texas. In addition, Steve Townsend joins SES as Controller.
  • In April, SES acquires 3000 additional I/O Sensor SM24 geophone land strings. In addition, Casey Jordan joins SES as Manager of Technical Support.
  • In May, SES purchases the VectorSeis® enabled FireFly™ land imaging system that will be utilized by Apache and BP as part of their seismic field trial programs.
  • In June, SES becomes a preferred rental and lease provider for Input/Output (I/O) land seismic equipment.
  • In October, SES completes its warehouse expansion by adding 16,000 square feet.

2005

  • In May, SES forms partnership alliance with Global Seismic Repairs (GSR) in Canada. In addition, Richard Gilley is promoted to Vice President of Operations.
  • In June, SES adds I/O System Four - Analog Cable (AC) system to its lease pool.
  • In September, SES adds I/O System Four - VectorSeis Cable (VC) system to its lease pool. In addition, SES adds over 15,000 OYO 32CT geophone strings to its lease pool.
  • In December, SES purchases over $6 Million worth of I/O parts inventory. In addition, SES completes build-up of 6000 channels of I/O System Four AR- RSR.

2004

  • In June, Jose Medina joins SES as Vice President of Technical Support
  • In September, SES purchases BGP 4000 stations of VectorSeis VRSR system.
  • In November, SES adds 2000 channels of Sercel 408UL to its lease pool.

2003

  • Seismic Equipment Solutions (SES) is formed in January, 2003, by founders Glen Huscroft and Paul Mitcham. The focus upon inception was to provide technical support for ION's mature products allowing ION to focus on their new technology. With a new repair facility, the company began to purchase and restore older equipment for subsequent sale or rental. With technical support being the heart and soul of the company, SES quickly began to offer field service and off-site training - designed to help crews, anywhere in the world, get into production as quickly as possible.
  • In March, Richard Gilley joins SES as Parts Manager.
  • In July, Jim Caveny joins SES as Vice President of Technology.
